31 Days of Holiday Horror

Every year since about 2016, we’ve published a list of holiday horror movies to count down your 12 Days of Christmas.  It started when a friend asked if holiday horror was a thing.  Not the Halloween kind, but the Christmas kind.  We didn’t know, so we decided to look into it and the 12 Days of Christmas Horror was born.  It took some time and we went through our fair share of Cineturds until we landed on a solid line-up of totally watchable Holiday Horror. But why stop there? What about a Christmas Horror Advent Calendar?  Or better yet, a full month of Holiday Horror to bring the season to a close at midnight on Year’s Eve? We were on the fence until a trailer told us that Violent Night releases the first weekend in December. That sealed the deail.

Going from 12 films to 31 wasn’t as hard as we thought – but we have to admit to some risky recommends.  Like four films we haven’t even watched and a few from the aforementioned Cineturd pile.  But if we’ve learned nothing else, it’s that one horror fan’s five-skull film is another fan’s flop.  So if Jack Frost can spawn a sequel while Silent Night, Deadly Night enjoys a huge cult following, then nothing on the calendar should surprise you.

You can follow our movie skull ratings as we plow through the holiday season. And if 31 Holiday Horror movies are a bit too much, in the spirit of the 12 days of Christmas, our dozen favorites are listed below.

December is the perfect time to curl up with your favorite cozy beverage and a warm fire while you entertain the Hell out of your horror movie habit.  Happy Holidays.
